Our mission

On team 14644 we pride ourselves as the engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. On the road to tomorrow, we work today as team that utilizes a passion for innovation and the core values of FIRST as our mission statement. We work not only to inspire those who give so much time and effort to our team, but also those who we have impacted in our community.

“Scientists investigate that which already is; Engineers create that which has never been.”

 - Bill Moyers

I’m a sophomore at Alliance Academy for Innovation and this will be my second year in robotics. When looking at all of the clubs offered at my school last year, my eye immediately fell upon FIRST robotics. I’d had no experience, only my determination to challenge myself and try something new. Was robotics a challenge for me? Absolutely. My life suddenly shifted to the world of engineering without my knowing so. My mentors and teammates pushed me to develop skills and be a leader, something I would normally want no part in. But FIRST changed my mindset from seeing a problem, to taking it as a challenge and facing it. In being a mechanical engineer or simply an adult, FIRST has taught me skills I will use in everyday life that I never would have gained otherwise. I’m on this team to further my knowledge, skills, and to work with others on the same path to changing tomorrow.

I’m a sophomore at Alliance and this will be my rookie year in FTC robotics. I joined because I’m in the healthcare pathway at my school and my dream is to become a neurosurgeon. Medicine, like engineering, is constantly evolving at new and sometimes alarming rates. New research and groundbreaking technological advancements have led to higher survival rates than ever before. If learning or just attempting to understand technology in this environment of innovative passion could help me save even one more life, reassure one more patient, get one more person back to their family then I have to believe that every minute of it is worth it. If I am going to be a surgeon then I have every responsibility to do everything in my power to help people. I think that having the knowledge and skills that FIRST teaches could help me help someone else, so I’m here.

“Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems.” - Scott Adams

I’m a sophomore here at Alliance currently in my sixth year of competitive robotics and my second year in FTC. I started competing as a third grader and never imagined I would be able to do the things I can now. I remember the excitement and fun of being able to build something I designed. I want to be able to help others experience that joy through robotics too. As an Eagle Scout who mentors the younger generations, I want to give back to the community that has given me the tools to succeed by doing the same for those who come after me. I’ve learned how to code, build, and CAD, but i’ve also learned how to work as a part of a team, and how to lead one. As a leader in my community, I feel it is my responsibility to not only help others achieve their goals and learn new skills but also to inspire them to lead as well. I hope that in my sixth year of robotics and the many to come that I inspire generations of competitors, innovators, and leaders.

“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” - Carl Nightingale

I’m a junior at Alliance Academy for Innovation, and this will be my 3rd year in robotics. I have been interested in robotics for as long as I can remember and I have been a part of many different organizations and clubs over the years. FIRST has been the one to challenge me in all of the best ways, pushing me to be innovative and to problem solve. There’s just no organization that is so diversified, including and exciting. FIRST has also taught me invaluable skills about leadership and teamwork, always pushing me to expand my knowledge of the technical field.
